Glasshouse Headlines Sold Out Show at Essex Art Center
Sound Gallery Volume II
Saturday, November 23, 2024 — Sounds and colored lights emanated from Essex Art Center on Saturday night as part of Sound Gallery Volume II. This event coupled live music performances with the Center's current exhibition, "There's Glitter in the Concrete."
Lawrence-based hip-hop group Glasshouse headlined the sold out event with sultry vocals from Liz Raki & the DLCs and rap performances by Zaay and Mt. Holly.
The performers, their music, and the audience filled Essex Art Center's galleries with kinetic energy, a perfect match for Rixy's glowing neon artworks.
Essex Art Center's Executive Director, Monica Manoski, said, "I'm grateful to our long-time friend and now Board member, Felipe Collazo, for curating such a talented lineup, and I'm excited to see the Art Center host events like this more regularly."
Felipe Collazo shared, "I believe the Sound Gallery series is a perfect way to provide our talented musicians with a beautiful, intimate space that allows for true connection between artist and audience. This series helps introduce new people to Essex Art Center while having them engage with the current exhibition. This weekend's show was exactly what I was hoping we could achieve with this series, and I hope we can continue to bring great live music to the gallery in the future."
"Space is a resource we are lucky to have," shared Manoski. "We want Essex Art Center to serve as both a gathering space for our community and a venue for creatives of all kinds. It's our mission to support artists, and we believe in paying them for their work. 100% of the ticket sale proceeds went to the performers and sound engineer."
While Sound Gallery Volume II was a one-night-only event, you can catch Rixy's exhibition through December 21, 2024.
