Peter Wood

Subjects taught at EAC:
Handbuilding in Clay
Artist's Statement:
My claywork reflects my respect for the formal elegance and decorative restraint of traditional domestic (functional) pottery.  Although many of my pieces involve the combination of handbuilt and wheel-thrown forms, my goal is to bring the various elements together as a harmonious whole and avoid jarring disjunctures.
Approach to teaching:
I find in each student the opportunity to explore materials, tools and techniques with someone who will use them in ways that surprise us both.
